Fit 4 Life
Funded by Communities for Health the aim of this project is to encourage lifestyle change in the 50-65 age group towards a healthier way of life.A healthy lifestyle does not necessarily mean drastically changing your diet and hours of toiling in the gym. Small changes to your everyday life can help you live a happier, healthier and more independent life for longer. Why not try line dancing for a bit of fun or tai chi to chill out, exercise doesn't have to be stressful! All our activities are low cost and suitable for beginners; new faces are always welcome.

The funding from Communities for Health has enabled us to employ a part time 50+ Lifestyle Worker whose time is dedicated to the project, this has had a really positive impact as Linda has been a visible presence at community groups and community centres throughout the consultation and the taster sessions.
Following some research into geographical gaps in provision for the 50+ community in the city we have focussed our attention in the Copnor and Paulsgrove areas of the city. Six weeks of taster sessions have taken place in Copnor and Paulsgrove, following consultation with the community and out of the sessions several will carry on and be sustained by the community.
Fit4Life is now looking to work with communities of interest, such as groups of people with diabetes or respiratory problems, to deliver targeted physical activity opportunities. If you run or are a member of such a group, please contact us using the details below. For information about physical activities in the Portsmouth area we have created the Fit4Life Physical Activity Database
If you would like any further information on what is happening in the Fit 4 Life programmes across the city please contact us using the details below.
