HIDS Strategies

The work of the Health Improvement and Development Service is underpinned by a number of strategies each concerned with a key priority. The documents associated with each strategy are available for download at the bottom of this page.
 
The Community Strategy 2004-2009 is an ambitious plan for the city focussing on seven priority areas one of which is Health and Social Wellbeing. This priority includes aiming to improve the physical and mental health of residents of Portsmouth, offering choice and encouraging independence.
 
The Prevention Strategy for Older People relates to our key role in developing projects and services aimed at encouraging healthy living and independence in Older People.
 
The Falls Prevention Strategy is a strategy produced in partnership with our colleagues in the Primary Care Trust and the NHS. It focuses on our pioneering work on falls prevention and services for people who are recovering from a fall.
 
The Integrated Health Strategy aims to identify and tackle the underlying causes of poor health in the city. In Portsmouth, the City Health and Social Well-being Board is responsible for leading the Integrated Health Strategy. It is a sub-group of the Portsmouth Local Strategic Partnership.
 
The Carers Strategy encompasses all the services and support available to carers in the city and is developed and monitored by the Carers Strategy Group.
