Multicultural Exercise Video

Physical activity can have a positive impact on those conditions linked to a sedentary lifestyle, such as heart disease, obesity and falls.

In order to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce health inequalities it was decided to produce a video in partnership with local older people.

Fit4U is a video made by older people for older people, and is funded by Communities for Health. It features elders from a range of communities, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian etc as well as white British, engaged in various forms of physical activities including Tai Chi, keep fit, walks and Latin American dancing.

As well as showing older people engaged in physical activity, a number of elders explain, in their mother tongue, the benefits that regular exercise brings.

The videos are being shown as widely as possible around the city, particularly in inner city areas. They are available in VHS and DVD formats and can be purchased for £10 each to cover costs.
