Fratton Live at Home Scheme

This scheme is a partnership between the Health Improvement & Development Service, Methodist Homes and the local community in the Fratton area of Portsmouth. It is essentially a good neighbour scheme that seeks to provide practical help and social contact through home visits to older people who are isolated or lonely.

At the request of scheme members a social club was subsequently formed. The Friendship Club meets on a Thursday afternoon from 2 - 4pm at the Wesley Centre where they enjoy a variety of talks, demonstrations, exercise etc.

Due to the success of the Friendship Club, which has approaching 50 members, it has been necessary to set up another group, the Circle of Friends, that meets on a Wednesday morning from 10 - 12 noon. This group is funded by Communities for Health.
