Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Access Scheme
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Access Scheme exists to offer groups the opportunity to experience music workshops and to receive complimentary tickets to performances at Portsmouth Guildhall. The scheme is aimed at members of the community who, for what ever reason, would not normally be able to access the orchestra's usual programme.
Portsmouth City Council run older peoples groups, day centres and residential homes can all benefit from the scheme. Musicians will visit day centres, community centres or residential homes to deliver workshops, and groups will also have access to free tickets for BSO concerts at Portsmouth Guildhall.
The BSO Access Scheme has proved very popular with all who use it as this letter demonstrates:
"I am writing to thank the BSO's Tea Time Trio for a truly wonderful musical afternoon on 18th March at the Wesley Centre in Portsmouth. Music gives so much pleasure, and is such an enriching experience, [the] visit was a rare opportunity for socially isolated older people to experience music, singing, and dancing in their community, at an easily accessible and safe venue."
