Carers

ARE YOU A CARER?

Do you look after someone with a disability or illness?

Do you look after an elderly relative or friend?

Do you help out when you can?

Are you a Carer?

YES? Then this section of the site is for you.....

Most of this section is devoted to providing factual support material for carers of all ages and in all circumstances. Portsmouth City Council have a written strategy document detailing how Carers' needs should be met. The strategy document can be downloaded here. (PDF Document - 62kb)

The Portsmouth Carers Centre exists to provide information, support and access to breaks for Carers in Portsmouth. We can support access to breaks like Day Care and Sitting Service as well as working with individuals to find more tailored breaks. We can put you in touch with carers' support groups and sources of help, and also provide advice and a listening ear. The Carers Centre has a library of information available to browse on a wide range of topics of interest to Carers. We can also offer free Internet access by appointment.

Located at 65 Kingston Road and open between 11am to 1pm Monday to Thursday, you can drop in during opening hours or an appointment can be made at another time if this is more convenient.

At the centre are three Carers Development Workers and a part-time administrative assistant. The Carers Outreach Worker from the Partnership Project is also based at the Centre on Thursdays.
